This shojo manga (Japanese graphic novel for girls/women) by the writing/art collective known as CLAMP is an interuniversal romp that borrows from several of CLAMP`s most popular series, including CARDCAPTOR SAKURA, RG VEDA, CHOBITS, and X/1999. In volume one of the series, an unknown force at an archeological site steals the memories of Sakura, an alternate, older version of CARDCAPTOR SAKURA`s heroine, and scatters them over various universes. Sakura`s true love, archaeologist Li Syaoran, must retrieve the memories if he is to save her life. The witch Yuko provides him with the help he needs to travel the dimensions, as well as with a few companions who have their own reasons for the journey. But will the price Syaoran owes Yuko for her services prove to be too great? This volume crosses over with volume one of the CLAMP series XXXHOLIC. CLAMP`s art style tends to be lush, extremely cute, or both. The black-and-white art veers toward the cute side here. Printed in its original Japanese right-to-left orientation, the book includes a full-color insert, a short dictionary of Japanese honorifics, and a glossary of the cultural and CLAMP series references used in the book.
