5 Ideas for Decorating a Small Space
So, you have moved into a small space but you have no idea how to decorate it. Ideally, you can turn it into not onlya well decorated space, but a place that looks bigger and is comfortable. Here’s a few ways you can decorate your small space and open things up a bit.
1) Light colors.
Light colors will open up the space. If you want a pop of color, add it to your trim or in the small pieces around your home like a lamp or your curtains. Go for as much light colors as you can in your walls, floors, and furniture even.
2) Choose multi-functional furniture.
Choose a coffee table that also moonlights as a storage space. Select a bench that can also serve as a space for storage. Storage is also very important in small rooms, so the more you have the less cramped it will be.
This is an obvious go to for small spaces, but one way to include mirrors without the obvious addition of a mirror on the wall, is choose furniture with reflective surfaces. If you aren’t looking to buy new furniture, choose decorative pieces like a reflective serving tray that goes with your coffee table.
4) Add shelves.
Shelves are relatively easy to install and very easy to do yourself. Open shelving can also give you the chance to decorate and add a pop of color to the room. Also, this will give you the chance to move things to the shelves that would other preoccupy space in the room.
5) Use natural light.
Natural light makes a huge difference. Put a mirror opposite from the window to expand on that natural light you do receive. Use sheer curtains as well that can filter natural light as much as you can.
