5 Christmas Gifts Perfect for Your Neighbors
The season of giving is upon us. If you haven’t thought of gifts to give your neighbors yet, now is the time to add them to your shopping list. Christmas is just around the corner, too, so hopefully these gift ideas will help you with what to give to the neighbors. So whether you live in condos, apartments, or big houses, these gifts are suitable for almost anyone.
1) Baked goods.
It goes without saying that baked goods of any kind are a fantastic gift. If you aren’t afraid of spoiling the surprise, reach out to your neighbors and find out if they have any food allergies. Even if you aren’t the best baker, there are easy baking recipes you attempt that will please almost anybody. Check out some of these ideas by Good Housekeeping.
2) A dinner invitation.
Or coffee. Or breakfast. But the best gesture of all is an offer to get to know your neighbors better. Invite them for dinner and get to know them better. It’s an excellent way of building community and make friends of the people you live around.
3) Offer your skills.
You would be surprised the type of skills you have that can help others. This is especially important if you see a need that you can fix. Spot your neighbors at a bus stop? Offer them a coupon book filled with 10 free rides within a 10 mile radius. Living next door to a neighbor with an unruly garden? Offer to mow the lawn. snow piling up around a neighbors porch? Shovel it for them. You would be surprised the impact this has on others.
4) Thank you cards.
Thank you cards make an excellent gift, especially this time of year. In the midst of giving and receiving, the long forgotten thank you card can be the last thing on people’s mind sometimes. So, give them a head start with this nice gesture and purchase a set of gift cards that they can pay forward.
5) DIY Gift Basket.
This is something you can do with a low budget. Make up your own gift basket that includes a theme. For example, put together a gift basket of a box of popcorn, a Redbox gift card, and maybe a box or two of movie candy like Junior Mints. Or give them a container of hot chocolate, a couple of mugs that you can pick up from the dollar store, marshmallows and peppermint sticks.
This is of course only scratching the surface, but keep in mind that any gesture at all is appreciated. May you have a wonderful Christmas and holiday season!
