5 Beauty Themed New Year’s Resolutions
New Year’s Resolutions always start out strong but end up failing most us after a month or two. Hopefully this time around will be different for you. Whether you want to beauty treatments such as botox or simply want more haircuts, add these resolutions to your list.
1) Wear SPF every day.
According to the American Academy of Dermatology, you should be wearing sunscreen that has an SPF of 30 or higher that is also water resistant. You may not think you need to during the colder months, but leaving your skin exposed and unprotected like that isn’t a good idea no matter what the time of year.
2) Remove the makeup off your face every night.
One of the worst things you can do for your skin is to go to bed with makeup on. And even if you don’t wear much make up throughout the day, it’s still important to get the day’s oil and grime off your face before bed. Purchase makeup remover wipes that you can keep handy in the bathroom or near your bedside.
3) Stop touching your face.
This is a cardinal rule we all probably break on a regular basis. From popping pimples to picking at blackheads, it’s the worst way to care for your skin. Share with others you are trying to break the habit and if it’s a particularly hard rule to break, keep your nails clipped.
4) Toss out expired beauty products.
Most beauty products such as makeup fade within a year or less, depending on the product, but how many of us keep these around for longer. Do some research on your makeup and think about the last time you bought it and consider tossing it away. For example, lipstick can last up to a year and mascara probably needs to be replaced every three months or so.
5) Start getting exercise.
Working out more and losing weight is probably one of the top resolutions that most people try in the new year. To be really successful at it, start small. Walk around your neighborhood and work out with free weights once or twice a week. Build from there. The reason? Your skin is actually healthier when you work out and looks younger.
As you ring in the new year, hopefully keeping these beauty tips in mind will help you be successful with your beauty regimen.
